LeBron James’ former teammate criticizes Anthony Davis for his poor play against the Heat

The Los Angeles Lakers’ recent slump got even worse on Wednesday. Against the Miami Heat, a team that came into the game with a mediocre 9-10 record, they were down by 41 points, and it was a total embarrassment for LeBron James and his team.

There were moments and sequences where it almost seemed like the Lakers were giving up, or at least not trying. There were numerous defensive failures, especially in transition defense, and offensively only two or three of the eleven players who took the field for Los Angeles played well.

Anthony Davis shot 3 of 14 and scored a season-low eight points and an anemic seven rebounds. His atrocious play drew the ire of Channing Frye, a former teammate of James, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to criticize Davis for allowing Kevin Love to completely neutralize him.

Davis has been dominant for much of this season and overall he is posting the best numbers of his career – 26.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. But in his last two games he has shot a total of 7 of 28, and he has now scored fewer than 20 points in five of his last seven games.

A big part of the solution to the Lakers’ problems – they have lost six of their last eight games – is for Davis to regain his confidence and aggressiveness and play dominantly as usual.
