Leisure travelers are returning to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Tens of thousands of people will pass through Salt Lake City International Airport on Sunday on their way home from Thanksgiving celebrations. So far, travelers are reporting a pretty smooth experience on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Apparently Sunday is the right day to fly home from Thanksgiving.

“I tried to stretch it out as many days as possible, but my son has to go back to work tomorrow,” said Susan Jense, who was traveling home from Baltimore.

“We all have to go back to work. We have work and school tomorrow,” said Andrea Giovanniello, who was traveling home from Ohio.

Once Thanksgiving is over, the travel must come to an end.

“Right, it’s time to get back to reality,” said Giovanniello.

They are just a few of the estimated 31,000 passengers who will fly into Salt Lake City International Airport on Sunday alone. Many of them told KSL TV that they had a pleasant travel experience.

“It was great, it was as smooth as it was slick,” Jense said.

And despite the large crowd moving around the airport, travelers did not feel crowded.
