Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, stars of the 1968 film adaptation Romeo and Juliet remained close throughout their lives and even filed a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures. In a statement shared on Instagram and with Vulture, Whiting fondly remembered his Julia after news of her death broke on Friday: “Olivia, we have shared so much since we were two sweet, innocent children who loved each other every photo clinging to each other witnessed by us. You’ve never been afraid to fight to make everything wrong in this world right. Rest now, my beautiful Julia, no injustice can harm you now. And the world will forever remember your inner and outer beauty.”

Her daughter, actress India Eisley, posted a childhood photo of her and her mother along with a message remembering her: “You faced so many hardships with such grace and strength and always made me feel safe no matter what was happening around us.” I hope to make you proud. You will always be my everything…” Hussey’s husband, David Glen Eisley, shared a photo of the two holding hands with their wedding rings and wrote: “My best friend for 35 precious years. Mother of our beautiful daughter India. Day 1 of Alex, Max, India and my strange and confusing new life. Thank you all for your love.”
