Light to moderate snow will disrupt Mainers’ morning vacation trip

PORTLAND (WGME) – There will be light to moderate snow through Tuesday morning, which will likely impact morning holiday travel.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Downeast Maine through this evening.

The purple polygons are winter weather advisories for light, fluffy snow. They expire on Tuesday afternoon.

The snow will most likely disrupt the morning commute as even light snow can accumulate on the roads. Try to take it slow on Tuesday morning.

During the peak holiday season there will be light to moderate snow as temperatures are above 20°C.

Snowfall is expected along the entire I-95 corridor.

The Alberta Clipper system ends for most between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Look for some sunshine in the afternoon, peaking as high temperatures climb into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Christmas Day will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 30s.

A dry stretch really begins on Wednesday as high pressure begins to build after moving south from Canada.

Be sure to have safe travels on Christmas Day itself.

Thursday and Friday look good with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 20s to mid 30s.

There will still be a few clouds over the weekend, but everything is fine.

Look for above normal temperatures late next weekend and early next week to return to the forecast.

Next week also looks stormy. Stay tuned.

Happy Holidays!
