Linda Cardellini joins Jason Bateman and David Harbor in the HBO series

Linda Cardellini has been cast to star opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbor in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “DTF St. Louis.” diversity has learned.

HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced to be in development as early as 2022, with Harbor and Pedro Pascal serving as lead producers and executive producers. It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series has evolved over time and is now based on a completely original idea unrelated to the original article and in which Pascal is no longer involved.

The official logline now states that the series is “about a love triangle between three adults suffering from middle-aged malaise that leads to one of them dying.” Cardellini will play Carol.

Cardellini is a three-time Emmy nominee – once for “Mad Men” and twice for “Dead to Me.” Her other TV credits include “Freaks and Geeks,” “ER,” and “Bloodline.” She currently lends her voice to the DC animated series Creature Commandos and will next be seen in the Netflix dark comedy No Good Deed, where she will be reunited with Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman. In film, Cardellini is known for her role in the live-action Scooby-Doo series, as well as feature films such as Brokeback Mountain, The Founder, and for her role as Laura Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She currently stars in the Hulu film Nutcrackers opposite Ben Stiller and just filmed Way of the Warrior Kid for Apple.

She is repped by CAA, Shelter PR and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Steven Conrad serves as writer, showrunner, executive producer and director. Both Harbor and Bateman will serve as executive producers, with Bateman doing so under his Aggregate Films banner. Additional executive producers include: Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch for Escape Artists; Molly Allen; Bruce Terris; Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films; Kristina Wenson for Bravo Axolotl; and MGM Television.
