Lions-Vikings scheduled for Sunday Night Football

The Week 18 showdown between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will be televised nationally.

NBC has scheduled next week’s Detroit vs. Minnesota game in Detroit for Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m.), as that game will determine the NFC North champion and the NFC’s No. 1 seed, which has home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Minnesota is currently 14-2 on the season after defeating Green Bay 27-25 on Sunday to move into No. 1 in the NFC and atop the NFC North. Their reign at the top of the division and conference could last just one day, however, as the Lions (13-2) will play in San Francisco on Monday Night Football.

The final game of the season will be historic for the NFL. It will be the most wins achieved by two teams in a regular season matchup in NFL history. The loser of this contest could potentially have 14 wins, be the No. 5 seed and start the playoffs on the road.

Detroit is 4-0 in primetime games this year, with the 49ers set to play their fifth primetime game of the season.

Detroit is looking to win its second straight division title, while the Vikings are seeking their second in three years.
