The University of Hawaii football team is expected to take the field in its final game of the 2024 season.

New Mexico (5-6) has bowl eligibility to play, while Hawaii (4-7) will have pride as its main motivating factor.

8:53: Hawaii’s drive stalls at the New Mexico 2. Hawaii decides to kick a field goal on fourth-and-goal. Kansei Matsuzawa’s 19-yard field goal extended Hawaii’s lead to 31-16 with 1:23 left in the third quarter.

8:42: Hawaii starts from its own 25 after a touchback.

8:40: TOUCHDOWN LOBOS. New Mexico makes Hawaii pay and promptly leaves the field. Dampier runs the ball into the goal from two yards out and Hawaii’s lead shrinks to 28-16 with 6:56 left in the third quarter.

8:32: Hawaii gets stuffed and New Mexico starts from UH 35.

8:30: Fourth-and-1 for Hawaii alone 37. The Rainbow Warriors call a timeout with 8:23 left in the third quarter, their first of the second half.

8:25: Hawaii will start from its own 12 after forcing a punt.

8:21: TOUCHDOWN HAWAII. Alejado continues his brilliant start and throws a 3-yard touchdown to Nick Cenacle. He’s now up to 344 yards and four touchdowns on 25-for-40 passing and no interceptions. This is the highest performance ever by a UH quarterback in his first start. Hawaii leads 28-9 with 11:58 left in the third quarter.

8:12 a.m.: Hawaii starts from their own 25 after kickoff.

THIRD QUARTER

7:51: New Mexico runs close and Hawaii takes a 21-9 halftime lead. The Rainbow Warriors get the kickoff for the second half.

7:48: Kansei Matsuzawa’s 32-yard field goal attempt misses wide left.

7:40: New Mexico FUMBLES at the Hawaii 24 after being forced by Lester Lagafuaina, and it is recovered by Jalen Smith with 1:29 left in the first half.

7:32: TOUCHDOWN ‘BOWS. Micah Alejado finds Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala for a 15-yard touchdown. Hawaii leads 21-9 with 2:29 left in the second quarter.

7:27: Hawaii forces a punt and begins its next drive from the New Mexico 40 after a nice Nick Cenacle return.

7:24: Hawaii’s drive stalls and goes to the New Mexico 20 with 5:18 left in the first half.

7:16: Hawaii will start from its own 25.

7:15: New Mexico takes the lead with a 36-yard field goal by Luke Drzewicki. Hawaii leads 14-9 with 8:29 left in the second quarter.

7:05: New Mexico starts from its own starting line after Hawaii starts from midfield.

7:02: TOUCHDOWN RAINBOW WARRIORS. Micah Alejado leads the Bows right down the field and UH scores again with a 52-yard touchdown to Dekel Crowdus.

6:58: Hawaii starts from its own 25 after a touchback.

6:55: TOUCHDOWN NEW MEXICO. The Lobos get on the field with a 3-yard touchdown from Devon Dampier. UNM makes it, but doesn’t convert a 2-point conversion. Hawaii still leads 7-6 with 13:06 left in the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

6:47: After further review, the call is canceled. New Mexico gets a first down and the drive continues.

6:46: Hawaii’s defense forces a turnover on downs on its own and takes over with 20 seconds left in the first quarter.

6:38: Hawaii makes a three-pointer and beats to the New Mexico 10.

6:35: The Lobos drive to the Hawaii 25 and prepare for a field goal that is MISSED by Luke Drzewicki. Hawaii takes a 7-0 lead with 4:47 left in the first quarter.

6:29: New Mexico starts after a short kick from its own 42.

6:27: TOUCHDOWN HAWAII. Micah Alejado got the start and went 6-for-8 for 75 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown to Pofele Ashlock. The Rainbow Warriors rushed for 94 yards on 12 plays and led 7-0 with 7:37 left in the first quarter.

6:13 p.m.: New Mexico gets a first down, but Hawaii holds them back with a punt. The Rainbow Warriors start from their own 10 after a penalty on the return.

6:08 p.m.: New Mexico elects to receive after winning the coin toss and is left alone on first-and-15 after a brief setback and a false start.

FIRST QUARTER

FOREPLAY: Micah Alejado appears to be taking his reps with urgency as he prepares for extended playing time while Brayden Schager is in street clothes.
