Live score, 6A Illinois Football State Championship updates

East St. Louis is back in the Illinois high school football Class 6A state championship game, but the Flyers will have a new opponent in 2024.

Geneva beat back-to-back state champion Cary-Grove in the semifinals to advance to the final.

The last time Geneva played for a state championship was in 2008, when the Vikings lost to East St. Louis in the 7A title game.

ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ADVERT

Geneva will look to get the ball early and often to five-star senior wide receiver Talyn Taylor, signed from the Georgia Bulldogs.

Four-star defensive lineman Charles Bass of East St. Louis, a Missouri Tigers commit, will be tasked with slowing down Taylor.

We’re on the way! After a delay of game on the opening kickoff (What?!), East St. Louis goes back five yards and kicks to Geneva, which starts on its own after a 10-yard holding penalty. Difficult start here.
