Jordan Ayew gave Leicester City the lead after just half a dozen minutes, but the Foxes struggled to find further chances and eventually found their fate decided by the favored leaders.

Leicester slip into the bottom three places, a point behind Thursday’s winners Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Can Arne Slot’s Reds keep Klopp’s famous ‘Mentality Monsters’ nickname?

Seriously, we know that Jurgen Klopp coined the name ‘Mentality Monsters’ for his Liverpool team, but this one looks just as steely, silky and solid as ever. Driven by Mohamed Salah in the win, the Reds are brimming with confidence. On a rainy, foggy Boxing Day, 1-0 and a commanding lead in the table against desperate visitors, any team might have been tempted to distract themselves or just give in to it. That wasn’t a problem for Arne Slot’s Reds. They kept coming in waves, fighting through the rain and firing shots at first-time PL goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk, who had done very well for the Foxes. However, victory seemed inevitable. This word is overused but it never felt like the Reds were going to lose this game at Anfield. Is it any wonder they didn’t? Liverpool have the swagger of a champion with the drive of an underdog because they were both. They look like a mix between 2022-23 Liverpool and Manchester City. Catching these Reds will take a massive push from someone else, especially since at this point it looks like they’ll have to win a head-to-head race against Slot’s men.

Liverpool vs Leicester City Preview – By Andy Edwards

After a 6-3 win at the weekend, Premier League leaders Liverpool will be brimming with confidence when they host relegation battlers Leicester at Anfield on Boxing Day.

Arne Slot’s team dismantled Tottenham with ruthless counter-attacking efficiency, reminiscent of the days of Jürgen Klopp’s heavy metal football long, long ago. The win was as important as it was crucial as Chelsea had played Everton earlier in the day when a win would have put the Blues top of the table for a few hours. Instead, Liverpool are four points ahead at Christmas with one game left. Slot has only lost 1 of his last 54 games as manager, going back more than a year (December 3) until his last season at Feyenoord.

After Ruud van Nistelrooy managed a win and a draw in his first two games as manager, Leicester returned to reality last week when they were beaten by Newcastle and Wolves 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. What’s worse is that the Foxes will play Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa in their next three PL games. The gap between Leicester (17th) and Wolves (18th) and Ipswich (19th) is only two points.
