CASSIE SCHERM BACK TO YOU. THANK YOU, KASEY. This time last night I was watching the rain move in periods of heavy rain. There was a possibility of thunderstorms this morning. NOW THE COLDER AIR IS COMING IN AND AS SOON AS WE GET OVER THE COLD TOMORROW. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL CAM BEHIND ME. WE SHOW YOU THE HOLIDAY PARADE PREDICTION. This is what it looked like on the radar. And it was a little earlier than I expected. Just about 2-3am this morning when the rain moved in. Ended around five o’clock. As you can see from this second wave of rain that moved in late morning until about lunchtime, that was the actual cold front. THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED SOMETHING AGO FOR TWO. I was out around 3-6am and left around 6am, but that left the roads still wet for your commute this morning. THE LAST ROUND THE FRONT WAS HELD A LITTLE LATER AND THAT ALLOWED US TO WARM UP A LITTLE. OUTSIDE HAMMOND HAD A LITTLE RAIN, OVER 5 INCHES, DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATE. SOME OF OUR RIVER TALKS BEGIN ON THE PARISES OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST AND SAINT JAMES. ABOUT 1 INCH RECORDED HERE, JUST UNDER 2 INCHES IN SOME AREAS NEAR NEW ORLEANS. So it was a pretty healthy dose of needed rain. We hadn’t eaten it for a while. We’re looking at the cold weather advisories that replace the wind chill advisories we’ve had in the past: wind chills, air temperatures, whatever. TOMORROW IT WILL JUST FEEL COLD FOR YOU. Even if SOUTH Shore isn’t involved here, we’ll still be cold here. FOR THOSE IN ORLEANS PARISH, EVEN TO THE COAST. What are we talking about? NEED A COLD WEATHER RECOMMENDATION? So this is colder air. This is slightly below the seasonal norm. So what we’re used to, when we factor in the cold of the wind, it can get a little dangerous. If you expose it outside and don’t wear the right clothing, you are not providing it adequate protection. Frostbite and, in the worst case scenario, hypothermia can occur at local warming centers. So it is the first criterion for cold air. WHEN YOU RECEIVE A COLD WEATHER WARNING WE WILL RECEIVE SERIOUS COLD TEMPERATURES IN REAL TIME, 40S NORTH COAST, 50S STILL HEADING TOWARDS THE SOUTH COAST. The Arctic Front runs through the core. The cold is coming. AND THEN WE’LL ADD THIS WIND ALSO. THERE IS A VIEW OF THE CORE OF THE COLD. Really cold temperatures for teenagers. AND DIGITS. This is really, really far north. ANOTHER COOL DAY TOMORROW AND STILL QUITE COOL ON SATURDAY. HOLIDAY PARADE. Anyone there but the cloud coverage is built in? You can’t rule that out. MAYBE THERE WILL BE AT LEAST SOME FIRE WITH THE FIRST WAVE OF CLOUDS THAT BUILD BACK UP. REAL-TIME TEMPERATURES IN THESE 40S AND 50S WE’RE DROPPING TO 27°C. THESE ARE ACTUAL AIR TEMPERATURES FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, EVEN 38° HERE IN THE CITY. BUT TOGETHER, WIND SPEEDS COULD RISE 10 TO 20 MPH AND SOME HIGHER GUSTS MAY FEEL LIKE 20 TO BOGALUSA TO HAMMOND AT 24. IN SOME AREAS, GUSTS COULD COME TO 19 TO 18 NEAR THE BOUNDARY. HERE IN CITY YOU’LL FEEL LIKE 31. COATS, HATS, MAYBE SCARF AND GLOVES BUNDLED TOMORROW. AND OF COURSE WE HAVE THE RECOMMENDATION FOR COLD WEATHER. TOMORROW THERE WILL BE SUNSHINE, STILL A LITTLE BREEZE DURING THE DAY WITH ABOUT 10 TO 15 MILE PER HOUR WIND, BUT THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY BE 5253, 54. AND WITH THESE HIGH TEMPERATURES THERE WE LOOK IT’S AN EVEN COOLER DAY COMING INTO PLAY . AND CAN’T FORGET EITHER. WE HAVE A SMALL CRAFT ADVICE WITH STRONGER WIND. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE CHILDREN’S HOLIDAY, THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL HOLIDAY PARADE, THE CLOUD COVER COMES IN BUT I STILL SEE SOME BAGS WITH A LITTLE SUN SHOWING THROUGH. BUT YOU SEE A LITTLE BLIP HERE. That’s why I still have a very slim chance of getting a bag of drizzle. It’s very different from the torrential rain we had last year. NONE OF THIS WITH TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 55 TO ABOUT 59 WHEN WE START THE PARADE. HERE IS THE FORECAST 53 EARLY 55 TO 59. BUT I THINK IT’S GOING GREAT. Come out and say hello and I’ll see you in Mandeville this evening for the Saint Tammany Holiday Lights. The third year in a row. I did the WDSU First Alert Weather for seven days. I can’t forget the impact of tomorrow’s cold and weekend cold.
