We do this and completely clear out the dust and intelligence of the American people. OK. Yes.

Luigi Mangione challenges extradition for UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting at Pennsylvania hearing

Luigi Mangione, 26, was taken into custody after being spotted at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Luigi Mangione challenged his extradition to New York during a brief appearance before a judge at the Blair County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon. “He denies it,” said defense attorney Thomas Dickey. The defense has been given 14 days to file a formal challenge to extradition. Therefore, Mangione could face second-degree murder and other charges in New York in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione was upset as he entered the courthouse, shouting, “It’s completely out of control and is an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their life experience.” (See video above) Sheriff’s deputies forcibly led Mangione into court , and he appeared rumpled in a brown T-shirt and rumpled orange overalls. He was tied at the waist and ankles. The judge ordered Mangione held without bail and returned to SCI Huntingdon. At one point, Mangione tried to intervene while his lawyer tried to convince the judge to release him on bail. He discussed the $8,000 in U.S. currency that Mangione was allegedly found with and the $2,000 in foreign currency. “Don’t say a word,” Dickey instructed his client. Police said Mangione was taken into custody Monday morning at the McDonald’s on East Plank Road in Altoona. According to a police complaint, officers were called to the restaurant after an employee reported a suspicious man matching the description of the person wanted in connection with the New York shooting. Mangione was charged with murder late Monday night by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. He was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and presenting false identification to police. During a press conference before the murder charges were filed, Gov. Josh Shapiro, along with Altoona police and the Pennsylvania State Police, commented on the identity of the suspect. Shapiro said it appeared the man made numerous stops after the shooting, one of them in Pittsburgh. State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said investigators were still trying to fill in the gaps in the suspect’s travel in Pennsylvania. Anyone with information was asked to call 800-4PA-TIPS. This is a developing story.
