Magdeburg Christmas market: What is known about the alleged perpetrator in Magdeburg

A 50-year-old from Saudi Arabia is said to have been the driver of the Magdeburg car. His motive is unclear; he is said to have made anti-Islamic comments on the Internet.

After the alleged attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, the police arrested a 50-year-old man who comes from Saudi Arabia. This was announced by Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff and the Interior Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Tamara Zieschang. Accordingly, the man was a doctor in a company around 50 kilometers away Magdeburg distant Bernburg. He has entered Germany since 2006 and is said to have a permanent residence permit.

According to police, the suspect was interrogated that night. A police spokeswoman also believed there was a search in Bernburg.
