Maine’s Cooper Flagg leads Duke to victory over No. 2 Auburn

Maine native Cooper Flagg scored a game-high 22 points on Wednesday night to lead No. 9 Duke past No. 2 Auburn. He recorded a team-high four assists and added three steals and two blocks in the Blue Devils’ 84-78 win over the Tigers added. Duke faced an early 11-point hole, but the Blue Devils managed to dig themselves out of it and led 43-36 at halftime. After halftime, Flagg scored 16 of his 22 points. Through eight games this season, Flagg is Duke’s leading scorer, averaging 16.6 points per game. He also leads the team with averages of 8.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Wednesday’s game was part of the SEC/ACC Challenge and Duke’s win over Auburn was one of only two wins by an Atlantic Coast Conference team. The Southeastern Conference won the intraconference series 14-2. Duke’s next game is Sunday when the Blue Devils begin conference play on the road against the Louisville Cardinals. Duke then plays non-conference games against Incarnate Word (December 10) and George Mason (December 17) before returning to ACC play on December 21 at Georgia Tech.
