Man awaiting trial on murder charges found dead in custody in Las Vegas | Local Las Vegas

A man scheduled to stand trial in the stabbing and killing of a woman in May died by suicide while in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in late October, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Lincoln Boe, 18, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Gina Fromme, also known as Gina LaPorta, a woman who Boe told police “got really mad at him” for asking for a second cigarette after he gave her some money to buy it.

In 2019, the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products was raised from 18 to 21.

Fromme’s body was found April 29 in a dumpster in the 9000 block of West Sahara Avenue. Two days earlier, Fromme was seen on a nearby surveillance camera pushing a shopping cart.

When police ran Boe’s license plate, they found it was connected to the Idaho missing person report, according to grand jury records. When asked what he was doing in Vegas, Boe told police he came to look at the architecture and liked red sand.

Boe died on October 28th and his case was subsequently dismissed on November 5th.

The Metropolitan Police Department, which operates the Clark County Detention Center, said the department’s investigation into Boe’s death is ongoing.
