Margot Robbie in the nude scene from Wolf of Wall Street where she slaps DiCaprio

Margot Robbie appeared on the “Talking Pictures” podcast with TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz and revealed that her “Wolf of Wall Street” director Martin Scorsese actually offered her the chance to not appear fully nude in the film. Robbie has a full-frontal scene as Naomi Lapaglia, the bombastic and no-nonsense wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s criminal Jordan Belfort. The actress was in her early 20s at the time and didn’t even think about how “everyone would see this.”

“(Scorsese) said, ‘Maybe you can wear a robe if you don’t feel comfortable.’ But she wouldn’t do that in this scene,” Robbie said of her role and her decision to go full-frontal. “The point is that she’s going to come out completely naked – that’s the card she’s playing right now.”

Robbie took matters into her own hands while filming The Wolf of Wall Street, which gave her her big break. For example, the scenes for her audition with DiCaprio ended with their characters kissing, but she decided to hit him instead.

“I thought, ‘I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now and that would be great.’ I can’t wait to tell all my friends.” And then I thought, No. And just punched him in the face,” Robbie said. “It was dead quiet for what felt like an eternity, but it probably only lasted three seconds.”

“They just burst out laughing. Leo and Marty laughed so hard. They said, ‘That was great,'” Robbie recalled. I thought, ‘I’m going to get arrested, I’m pretty sure it’s assault or battery.’ Not only will you never work again, you idiot, you’ll even go to jail for it.’ And why did you have to hit him so hard? You should have made it easier.”

“The Wolf of Wall Street” was Robbie’s first major film role and opened in 2013, the same year she had a small supporting role in the romantic drama “About Time.” Six years later, she reunited with co-star DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
