The news comes as Carey’s song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returned to No. 1 on the Billboard charts this week. Carey performed Monday night in Raleigh, North Carolina. “We didn’t get anything to let us know it was cancelled. We didn’t know until we arrived and saw a note on it – do you know the entrance, when will you get your ticket for it? There was just a note stuck on it,” said the Mozzillo family of Youngstown, Ohio.

Carey posted a message on her social media: “Pittsburgh, I’m sorry to say, I have the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel the show tonight. I love you all so much.”

The cancellation was announced Wednesday afternoon, just hours before Carey was scheduled to take the stage in Pittsburgh.
