This year’s featured narrator is Kathryn Hahn. Hahn is a big name in current pop culture following this summer’s hit Disney+ Marvel original series Agatha All Along. The series was a spin-off of “WandaVision,” where Hahn first appeared. She also voiced Doc Ock in the Spider-Verse animated films.

The candlelight parade takes place behind the Main Street train station across from Town Square. Fake stained glass windows with trees and flowers were placed on both sides of the station.

There is a stage in the square in front of the train station. At the top of the stairs is a stepped platform for the show’s choir. It is crowned with a silver star.

Golden railings are installed around the stage stairs. A lectern at the corner of the stage is for the narrator.

Wreaths, garlands, pennants and candles decorate the stage and the podiums.

About the Disneyland Candlelight Processional

The first candlelight parade took place at Disneyland in 1958, three years after the park opened. The tradition of a celebrity narrator began in 1960 with Dennis Morgan. The show is performed at Main Street Station, but at times was also held at Fantasyland Theater.

It consists of a vocal choir, an orchestra and a handbell choir. It lasts about 45 minutes and tells the story of “The First Christmas,” also known as the birth of Jesus.

The Candlelight Processional at EPCOT is performed multiple times each evening during the Festival of Holidays, and performances are open to guests. However, Disneyland only allows invited guests into the main viewing area.

The only way to get a seat for the procession is to be an invited guest. For this reason, Disneyland hardly advertises it. Invited guests typically include Disney VIPs, celebrities, media and Club 33 members, as well as other exclusive groups.

Guests are permitted to gather on Main Street USA for remote viewing.

The viewing area for guests fills up quickly. For this year’s premiere, the area for the show closed at 5:30 p.m. around 4 p.m. Another performance will take place at 7:45 p.m. PT.

In contrast, the Candlelight Processional is performed at Walt Disney World several times during the holiday season and a schedule with celebrity narrators is announced in advance. The first this year was Josh Gad. Check out our video of his first show below.
