Mattias Ekholm scored at 1:04 of overtime as the Edmonton Oilers staged a two-goal comeback to beat the visiting Boston Bruins 3-2 on Thursday night.

Ekholm scored the decisive goal as the last runner. He received a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who took the puck off Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman’s pads and returned a pass.

The Oilers, who have won six of their last seven games, erased a 2-0 deficit with goals in the second and third periods.

Zach Hyman had a goal and an assist and scored the first goal for Edmonton before scoring the equalizer for Connor McDavid with 2:21 left.

Leon Draisaitl had three assists and Stuart Skinner made 24 saves for the Oilers.

Draisaitl and McDavid are on a seven-game point streak.

Boston had a 2-0 lead after one period when Elias Lindholm scored 1:07 before halftime and Mark Kastelic doubled the score 2:25 before halftime.

Swayman stopped 23 shots for the Bruins, who went 2-2-1 on the road against Western Conference teams.

Both teams had 26 shots on goal and went 0-2 on the power play.

Less than a minute after Swayman crucially parried Draisaitl’s one-timer from the right circle, McDavid picked up Hyman’s drop feed and cut into the blue paint to score the equalizer from close range.

Edmonton’s second-period push had made the score 2-1 when Hyman beat Swayman with a sighting goal at 11:17. After attempting to deflect the puck out of a scrum along the boards, Kastelic landed right at Hyman in the right circle, and he slid a wrist shot five holes.

Hyman, who has scored eight goals in his last seven games, played Monday against the Florida Panthers with a broken nose after a slap shot from teammate Evan Bouchard deflected and hit Hyman in the face.

Lindholm scored on Boston’s first shot at 1:07 of the first period, curling from the deep corner to the outside of the circle to fire a shot that went through Skinner, who was hugging the left post.

Brad Marchand provided the first assist for Lindholm, giving him an eight-game point streak.

The visitors ended the first period with an 11-5 lead and a two-goal lead after Kastelic’s hard shot at net ended in a backhand goal at 17:35. After Brandon Carlo’s touch initiated the transition, Kastelic picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone before rushing toward the goal.
