It looks like there will be a quarterback competition in Ann Arbor as Michigan football has signed Fresno State transfer quarterback Mikey Keene.

The veteran quarterback announced on social media Monday that he has committed to the Wolverines, reposting a message from On3 reporter Hayes Fawcett and posting a photo of himself in a Michigan football jersey.

Keene is a name the Wolverines should be familiar with after facing him in the first game of the season last year when he was quarterback for Fresno State. The Wolverines defeated Fresno State 30-10 and Keene completed 22 of 36 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown but had two interceptions.

He is a prolific passer who racked up thousands of yards, initially playing two years at UCF before spending two years at Fresno State.

He has thrown for 8,245 yards and 65 touchdowns in his career.

Keene will join a quarterback room that has received a lot of attention this offseason after the Wolverines went all out to sign Belleville’s Bryce Underwood to a huge name, image and likeness package. Underwood is the No. 1 recruit in the country and the Wolverines’ long-term solution at the quarterback spot, but signing Keene gives Michigan short-term security.
