Although Mike Evans doesn’t grab headlines like some of the league’s most popular wide receivers, he has been the benchmark for professionalism and consistency throughout his 11-year career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneer has already etched their name in the NFL and team record books. He currently has 10 consecutive seasons with 1,000 receiving yards and is 182 yards shy of that mark in his 11th season. Had it not been for a hamstring injury this season, he would have already reached this milestone as the second receiver behind Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

There are two games left in the regular season and he needs to average 91 yards per game to reach the century mark. Evans is expected to finish about 80 yards behind, but with Tampa Bay fighting for a playoff spot, he will be a key contributor in these final must-win games.

His best chance to get a significant lead will be when they take on the Carolina Panthers this weekend. In his first meeting with them this season, he had eight catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.

It’s not unreasonable to assume he’ll need less than 60 yards in Week 18 when they face the New Orleans Saints.

Making the playoffs is the main goal, and Evans will do whatever the team asks to get to the postseason, even if his personal goal suffers in the process.
