Minnesota Weather: Warmer Sunday with cloudy skies

It’s a cool start to the morning, but not as cold as it was 24 hours ago when temperatures were in the single digits.

Forecast for Sunday

What we know: Maximum temperatures will reach 30 degrees today, exactly the level we should have at this time of year.

The sky will be mostly cloudy, but it should remain dry and free of snow on Sunday.

The system from Montana will move into our area this evening, but the forecast tends to be drier overnight Sunday into Monday.

Western Wisconsin is most likely to experience snowfall and possibly a freezing drizzle, while most of us in the Twin Cities and parts to the north and west will not see snow or a wintry mix.

Holiday forecast

Looking ahead: We’re well on our way to having a white Christmas because even though we won’t get any fresh snow, the current snow cover is likely to stick around until Christmas Day.

A warming trend begins Thursday with highs in the low to mid 30s and near 40s possible later in the week, with a chance of showers Friday.
