MLB Insider predicts the final results of the Juan Soto Sweepstakes

An MLB insider doesn’t rate the Red Sox’ chances of signing Juan Soto.

There have been several reports indicating that Boston is eager to land the most coveted player in free agency. In fact, one rumor stated that the New York Yankees began to “fear” the Red Sox as they developed their pitch and offer for Soto.

Still, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand believes, based on conversations with people around the league, that the Soto sweepstakes is truly a toss-up between the New York clubs. Feinsand believes the Mets will ultimately win the four-time All-Star while the Yankees finish second. The veteran insider names the Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers as the most likely landing spots for Soto.

Soto teaming up with Francisco Lindor would hardly be a surprise. The Mets have had a very encouraging 2024 season and there is no reason to believe that owner Steve Cohen won’t do everything he can to sign one of the best players in the game. Such a pact would only require a quick move to Queens for Soto, who thrived in the Bronx in 2024.

To be clear, all signs point to the Red Sox doing everything they can to lure Soto. But both Big Apple ball clubs are more than capable of making convincing throws.
