Further information: According to Bankrate, Meme Coin is a type of cheap cryptocurrency inspired by internet memes, trends or popular characters.

Meme coins are easy for people to make and therefore come with the risk of fraud and other potential problems. According to Bankrate, the value of meme coins can rise and fall quickly, making them a risky investment.

According to Bankrate, they are also vulnerable to market manipulation, which includes “pump and dump” schemes. In these systems, prices are artificially inflated and then suddenly crash. Creators could also withdraw liquidity from the market so that the coins would no longer have any value.
