RECOVERED. ALSO HERE IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA WE HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED SEVERE STORMS AND WE EXPECT MORE RAIN IN THE COMING DAYS. First, let’s hand it over to meteorologist Derek Sibley, who says when the rain is expected to move into the region. So don’t put our rainwear away yet. RIGHT DEREK? YES, THAT’S RIGHT, SALLY. We want to make sure you have it handy or at least close by, because even though tomorrow won’t be quite as bad compared to what happened today, we may be able to do some of that again here in the next few days TOMORROW, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, I THINK IS THE BEST TIME TO SEE SOMETHING SIMILAR TO WHAT WE HAVE HERE TODAY. We had an upper level disturbance and we were also tracking a few fronts near here on the surface and that allowed showers and thunderstorms to really take off here across much of southeast Louisiana, mostly in the late morning hours through into the early hours of the AFTERNOON. THERE WAS COMMON LIGHTNING ACTIVITY IN SOME PARTS OF THE SOUTH COAST, ALSO THE DISTURBANCE THAT MOVED THROUGH THE BRANCH WAS RATHER IMPRESSIVE. Many places in southeast Louisiana received well over an inch of rain. Today’s temperatures were well into the mid 60s. A FEW LOCATIONS FURTHER TOWARD THE COAST, NEAR THE UPPER 60S. However, our high temperatures today for New Orleans were 66 degrees, still a few degrees above average. The low is 5,710 degrees above the average low of 47 degrees for this time of year. HERE WE STAND CURRENTLY. UPPER 50S NORTH COAST, LOWER 60S. For much of the south coast and also towards the coast. North shore, mostly toward the lower 60s, trending downward toward the south shore and also nearshore. THE REST OF THE DAY TOMORROW. Just be aware that we may have to expect some morning fog potential. I’ve seen some modeling data that shows we could be anywhere from zero visibility to about half a mile of visibility, particularly on the south coast. So just a heads up, skies will be mostly cloudy for the rest of the day. PERHAPS A SHOWER OR TWO POSSIBLE, WITH AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOW 70S MORNING AFTERNOON, CHECK THE TEMPERATURE GRAPH HERE. Next week you can see that we stay pretty warm (up to about the mid 70’s) over the next few days until we get to around Wednesday, because then another strong front could move in and then we’ll start to see the temperatures watch Back to the upper 60s About the middle of the week. So the stationary front looks like it doesn’t move much. SHOULD travel OVER much of the Gulf Coast. This may further increase cloud cover throughout the area. Here it looks like it will last all day tomorrow, perhaps a slight chance of a shower or thicker cloud cover. Let’s go. As we head out around six o’clock tomorrow afternoon, the sky is still partly to mostly cloudy. THIS FRONT is starting to turn more into a warm front and moving north. AND THEN WE’RE ON THE BACK SIDE. So we got the southerly wind coming from the Gulf of Mexico. THAT’S WHY TEMPERATURES AND OUR HUMIDITY ARE RISING. Also check out this fairly strong line of showers and thunderstorms developing across our west Friday morning. AND THIS IS ACTUALLY BEFORE A DEVELOPMENT OF THE COLD FRONT THAT WILL INSIDE. BUT THE SERIES OF showers and storms are starting to weaken a bit here as it approaches southeast Louisiana. BUT WE STILL KEEP THE CHANCE OF RAIN IN GAME BUT FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON. And in fact, the chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the day could be around 60%. Just be aware of it. AND ALSO AS WE DRIVE INTO SATURDAY AFTER ANOTHER DISRUPTION. However, the chance of rain is lower for Monday to Wednesday next week. BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN EVERYWHERE, WITH SOME OF THESE HEAVIER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS Isolated higher amounts of rain are also possible.
