Mrazek leaves the Blackhawks game with an apparent injury

CHICAGO— Petr Mrazek left the Chicago Blackhawks with an apparent injury in the first period of their game against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.

The goaltender made his fourth save of the game at 10:46 of the first when he appeared to be injured. Mrazek tested the injury during the stoppage of play before leaving the game and was replaced by Arvid Soderblom.

Mrazek made his 20th start of the season for the Blackhawks. As of Saturday, the 32-year-old had a record of 7-11-1 with a goals-against average of 2.86 and a save percentage of .905.

Soderblom is 1-5-1 with a 2.46 GAA and a .919 save percentage in seven games this season.

Chicago signed goaltender Laurent Brossoit to a two-year contract on July 1, and he was expected to split time with Mrazek. However, he did not play this season after undergoing knee surgery on August 27. Brossoit had follow-up arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on November 29 and will be reevaluated in six weeks.

Saturday was the first game coached by Anders Sorensen, who was named interim coach of the Blackhawks on Thursday following the firing of Luke Richardson. Sorensen was the coach of Rockford, the American Hockey League Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks are last in the NHL at 8-16-2 and have lost four straight games.
