New England Patriots recreate Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show announcement

Kendrick Lamar is going on tour and the New England Patriots may have come up with the smartest way to promote his upcoming show at their stadium.

The Patriots’ social media team shared a video of wide receiver Kendrick Bourne remaking Lamar’s viral announcement video as he revealed he would be the featured performer at next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

“Are you ready?” Bourne asks at the start of the video before announcing who he is. “Kendrick Lamar will be performing at Gillette Stadium. Are you going to show up?”

Bourne then referenced Lamar’s “ Round two” line that many believed was a reference to Drake. “There is only one chance to see him here. There are no round twos. Catch him here at Gillette Stadium on May 12.”

The Patriots and their social team know their way around Lamar. The franchise also referenced the “Not Like Us” rapper’s viral MUSTARRRRRD meme when it shared an image of Tom Brady screaming at X with the line as its caption.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Lamar would be embarking on a major stadium tour with SZA in 2025 called the Grand National Tour. It begins April 19th in Minneapolis, MN at US Bank Stadium and ends June 18th in Washington, DC at Northwest Stadium.

Following an exclusive Cash App Visa Card pre-sale beginning tomorrow (December 4) at 10 a.m. local time, general ticket pre-sales begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 6

Lamar’s stadium tour announcement came on the same day that his Grammy-nominated dissident song “Not Like Us” was announced as the top entry on Apple Music’s year-end global song charts. This surpassed other big songs from that year such as Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things”.

The New England Patriots aren’t the only big team showing Lamar some love lately. Heinz recently created billboards calling the rapper the GOAT and promoting their two cents with the same viral line the Patriots used in their social media post.
