New England Patriots sign rookie RB to active roster

The New England Patriots have had undrafted rookie running back Terrell Jennings all season. He hasn’t gotten much playing time, but the team believes he could be a good piece for the future.

With that in mind, the Patriots made a big move with Jennings on Friday.

According to a report by Christopher Price of the Boston GlobeNew England signed Jennings to the 53-man roster for the remainder of the 2024 season and also next season.

Obviously, this isn’t the type of commitment a team will make to an undrafted free-agent rookie without a plan in place for him to see the field.

Jennings went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft after a stellar college career at Florida A&M.

He ended up playing four years in college, rushing 383 times for 1,757 yards and 22 touchdowns. Those numbers average a solid 4.6 yards per carry. Jennings also caught 18 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown.

During his rookie season with the Patriots, he carried the football five times for 13 yards.

Although he hasn’t played much yet, New England may plan to get him on the field in the final three games of the year. It will be interesting to see what he can do if given a chance.

This is obviously a big step towards the end of the season. Jennings expects to play an important role at the NFL level for the remainder of this season and next year.

Obviously, the Patriots believe they could have a diamond in the rough in Jennings. Hopefully he can develop into the player people are investing in him to be.

Don’t be surprised to see Jennings on the field in the next three weeks.
