New England waives disgruntled wide receiver

New England waives disgruntled wide receiver

The Patriots reportedly parted ways with a disgruntled veteran wide receiver on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports, New England waived KJ Osborn. The reported move was mutual as the 27-year-old looks for a new team in the final weeks of the regular season.

Osborn signed a one-year contract with the Patriots last offseason. The fifth-year wide receiver was expected to be a veteran for a young roster. However, he was at the forefront of rumors of locker room turmoil.

The 2020 fifth-round pick hasn’t been shy about expressing his suspected frustration on social media with his role, or lack thereof, in New England’s offense. The former Minnesota Vikings wideout attracted interest before the NFL trade deadline. Although Eliot Wolf and his staff received calls on Osborn’s behalf, they did not press for a deal. Osborn was expected to receive his release in early November, but he had to wait a month before he finally received it.

Osborn finished his Patriots career with seven receptions on 18 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown. He played in seven games and had been inactive since Week 10.
