New Hampshire School Closings and Delays: December 10, 2024

New Hampshire School Closings and Delays: December 10, 2024

Dozens of schools and institutions in New Hampshire are announcing delays for Tuesday morning

Temperatures will drop near the freezing mark first thing this morning. And that means any kind of patchy drizzle could freeze again on untreated surfaces and side roads. As a result, the winter weather warnings are in effect for the southern areas of the state until late morning and into the afternoon, up north of the country you will also notice that strong wind warnings have been added here. A *** front will approach later tomorrow afternoon, and there will be *** a small window for *** a few wind gusts in excess of 40 mph closer to the coast later today. So our influence weather continues this morning and this evening, some patchy freezing drizzle with temperatures in the lower half thirties. And that means it could be pretty icy on some untreated surfaces from then on. Rain will increase tomorrow and become steady and even heavy at times later in the afternoon. And that, in turn, could mean potentially 1 to 2 inches of rain and some gusty winds on this front heading into this evening. As there is a chance of heavier rainfall at times tomorrow, you will notice this on the storm tracker. There’s not much to show here. There is some light snow up in the white mountains of the Great North Woods. *** A bit of patchy drizzle won’t show up here on the storm tracker as there are subtler, er, areas of light rain this morning. You will notice the system gathering to our southwest. This will suck up a lot of moisture and carry it our way, which can result in rainfall of over 1 to 2 inches. From tomorrow to tomorrow evening, temperatures today will be just *** a few degrees above freezing in most cases. So again, the untreated surfaces and side roads might be a little slippery this morning. And again, later this evening as there is more moisture outside today with nothing more than a little drizzle. But you’ll notice some intermittent showers moving in later tonight, becoming stable for damn time tomorrow and then becoming more severe later this afternoon tomorrow and into tomorrow evening before the front finally breaks through. As the wind turns northwest again on Thursday, it begins to cool down. Later in the afternoon there could be a brief warm-up into the 40s and 50s, but then it’s into the 30s with strong winds on Thursday and then 30s into Friday and the weekend with some sunshine expected, that the system will probably deliver an inch of rain for us. But there could even be more than five centimeters of rain in places. That means a hell of a lot of runoff along with the snowmelt we’ll have in the southern half of the state as a result. So there could be traffic congestion on the roads in the area once again and things will generally be slow over the next 36 hours. Today there will be patchy drizzle, freezing drizzle with temperatures low to mid 30s. Temperatures will hold there tonight and showers and periods of rain will begin tomorrow. Towards the afternoon it becomes more stable and heavier. Yes, temperatures could briefly rise above 60° in some southern areas during the day tomorrow, but will be above 40° in the morning and likely above 50° by afternoon. The seven-day forecast is much calmer going forward and takes us into the weekend with a weak system. Sunday.
