New Jersey School Closings, Delayed Opening Due to Snow and Ice for Monday (December 16, 2024)

Dozens of school districts in New Jersey called for delays in openings Monday as an overnight storm is expected to dump snow and a layer of ice across northwestern counties.

As temperatures rise this morning, precipitation is expected to turn to pure rain, but the National Weather Service said the morning commute could be slippery.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Morris, Western Passaic and Sussex counties through this morning.

Wantage, Sussex County, had picked up 4 inches of snow as of 5 a.m., while Butler, Morris County, had 3 inches on the ground, the National Weather Service said.
