The Children’s Hospital New Orleans Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 11 a.m. Here’s everything you need to know before the parade begins. Here’s how to watch the parade: For those unable to watch the parade in person, WDSU will televise the parade live in a two-and-a-half hour special. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with a special half-hour introduction that highlights the Children’s Hospital’s impact, shares inspiring patient stories and helps raise vital funds for the hospital. This year’s parade will feature a longer route and unique throws. The 30-float parade includes soaring holiday-themed balloons, floats with animatronic props, dozens of popular marching bands and more. Santa Claus himself also takes part in the parade. Patients at Children’s Hospital were busy decorating custom-made and decorated plastic ornaments that will be distributed as unique throws this year. Each unique piece of jewelry includes a plaque with the patient’s name. New this year: Children’s Hospital is partnering with the New Orleans Marriott family of hotels to offer hotel and experience packages. Discounted room rates are being offered as part of the Papa Noel parade weekend vacation package, and the New Orleans Sheraton and JW Marriott hotels are planning viewing parties with reserved balconies and street viewing areas.
