New Orleans Pelicans vs. New York Knicks Prediction, Odds and Tips

The Pelicans’ ship has been sinking for some time and has almost reached rock bottom. They just lost their seventh straight game 120-109 to the Grizzlies and are currently 4-16 SU and 1-9 SU in road games. Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Herbert Jones, Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins are all out with injuries. Similar to the Philadelphia 76ers in the East, the Pelicans have had the best luck with injuries in the NBA this season. However, they have played well against the Knicks recently, winning 4 of the last 5 meetings and covering the lead in 4 of the last 6 meetings. They enter this game as double-digit underdogs, so the question becomes, do we trust the inconsistent Knicks to get the job done here?

New York narrowly defeated a Charlotte Hornets team on the road, 99-98, in a game in which they were double-digit favorites. This team just finished a 5-game road trip, so it might take a quarter or two of this game to settle in a bit. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns have contributed offensively this season, while Mikal Bridges has been in the spotlight because of his poor play. The Knicks have had a lot of trouble defending the three-ball this year and are only 26th in opponent percentage. Although the Pelicans have made single-digit three-pointers three times in five games, things can get hot for them too if the Knicks don’t let their guard down here.

Not much is going right for the Pels right now, but catching the Knicks in their first game back from a long road trip could allow them to keep things reasonably close here. This team has been a punching bag for opponents for quite some time. Here’s hoping they step up their game at MSG on Sunday and surprise the Knicks.
