New photos show UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s killer in Starbucks before the shooting

The man wanted for fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown on Wednesday morning was spotted at a nearby Starbucks before killing his target, police said.

It was not immediately clear how long the shooter, who has yet to be identified, was at the Starbucks or whether he had purchased anything.

Officials said the gunman quickly fled the scene on foot after shooting Thompson multiple times, with bullets striking his back and right calf.

According to NYPD Detective Chief Joseph Kenny, he was then seen getting on an E-Citi bike on Sixth Avenue and disappearing into Central Park.

According to officials, the suspect was last seen entering Central Park.

Thompson was taken to nearby Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence and say the gunman was conducting surveillance at the hotel where Thompson was scheduled to speak at a UnitedHealth Group investor conference later in the day.
