The PS5 disc drive has arrived in new stock in the UK, despite a retailer deciding to increase the price.

The PS5 disc drive is set to sell for $79.99 / £99.99, but is currently sold out at virtually every major retailer. As a result, eBay sellers in the UK are posting Buy It Now listings selling the device for between £150 and £250.

However, today the promotion is resurfacing at UK technology retailer Currys, suggesting new stock is arriving in the country.

Availability of Currys was sporadic throughout the day, but once it was in stock, customers noticed the retailer was selling the drive for £109 instead of £99.

Despite it being out of stock on PlayStation Direct, the listed price is still £99, suggesting the price increase was caused by Currys and not Sony.

When the PS5 disc drive launched alongside the Slim model of the PS5 in 2023, the add-on was immediately available to those who chose to purchase the Slim model system.

After the announcement that the PlayStation 5 Pro would not include a disc drive, nor would there be a SKU of the console that would include one in the package, the price of the add-on increased as it became difficult to find stock.

While the drive was difficult to find, this was not the case with the PS5 Pro console itself, with some scalpers reportedly having to sell the console at a loss due to a lack of interest.
