The good news for the Houston Texans? A 31-2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day won’t hurt their playoff prospects.
The bad news? People are aware that they will host the playoff game after failing to score a single offensive point against a weak defense.
Since the Texans (9-7) play in the AFC South, they have already secured a playoff spot. The Indianapolis Colts are the only team within striking distance of Houston and are still two games behind entering Week 17. They also lost both head-to-head meetings, meaning the division could not be won if both teams finished with the same record.
But fans are angry that the Texans, who have played just two games in four days, looked terrible and will still have enough wins to host a playoff game. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins could also finish with the same record but would have to travel to a playoff game in three weeks.
Houston had a chance to score before Beyoncé took center stage at halftime, but couldn’t muster enough momentum to score the fourth. After that, the Texans never managed to score a touchdown as Baltimore went on a 21-0 run.
Yes, this Texans team has weaknesses, but they are good enough in their division to make the postseason. Fans are not thrilled with the idea of seeing this version of CJ Stroud and the Texans play in the postseason.
Steelers-Texans in Round 1 will be a beautiful mess.
Two teams playing their worst football of the year in the playoffs.

Are we sure we can’t just knock the Texans out of the playoffs?

Ravens vs. Texans is so bad I can’t believe it wasn’t a first round game in the College Football Playoff.

The league should grant a waiver to exclude the Texans from the playoffs. This is such a pathetic team

Last season, the Texans won the playoffs in Week 18 and amazed us at what they could do.
This season they got the win in Week 15 and I’ve never been more confident that they won’t do anything in the postseason.

The Texans have been the worst playoff team since November and nothing has changed.

The Texans don’t deserve to be in the playoffs in the slightest, lmao.
Luckily they are in the AFCS
