NFL fines Bears RB D’Andre Swift more than ,000, the team’s largest penalty this season

Officials did not report Bears running back D’Andre Swift during Monday’s game against the Vikings, but the NFL’s review of the tape resulted in the largest fine for a Bears player this season.

The league fined Swift $22,511 on Saturday for unnecessary roughness after he ran helmet-first into Vikings safety Josh Metellus. On second-and-4 at the Bears’ 35-yard line with 6:48 left in the second quarter, Swift took a handoff to the right and gained six yards as he led with his helmet into Metellus’ facemask.

Swift finished with 79 yards, his fourth-most this season, on 19 carries. He ranks 19th in the league with 821 yards rushing heading into the Bears’ game against the Lions on Sunday.
