Thanks to a gift from writer/director Robert Eggers, Nicholas Hoult now has a small piece of Bill Skarsgård’s Nosferatu prosthetics in his home.

Hoult told Elle that he owns Skarsgård’s prosthetic penis from his character Court Orlok. Hoult actually had the prop framed.

“I had Court Orlok’s prosthetic penis made at home,” Hoult said. “There’s a scene where Bill Skarsgård sips my blood and Robert Eggers asks afterwards, ‘How was that for you?’ And I said, “I could feel his prosthetic penis on my leg.” And then Rob had it framed as a gift and sent it home to me.”

However, the frame broke during transport and Hoult had to take the penis to a local frame shop to have it repaired.

“(The store owner) didn’t even bat an eyelash the first time,” Hoult said. “Then when I went back to pick it up, I think he thought how strange it was that I was possibly framing this vampire penis and he asked, ‘Is this some kind of collector’s item?’ And I thought, ‘Hmm, you could say that.'”

Hoult’s co-star Skarsgård previously told Deadline that he felt “uncomfortable” in the numerous prosthetics required to play the title character.

“The prosthetics took forever. Everything was very unpleasant. You were very hot and very itchy and sticky,” Skarsgård said.

Eggers added that Skarsgård was afraid of looking “like a goblin” in the role.

“He puts the makeup on and says, ‘Ugh, I look like a leprechaun.’ That’s awful.’ And then when they did the hair, even though the makeup wasn’t quite done, I saw the first moment where he said, “Okay, that’s cool.” “That’s a person,” Eggers said. “I started seeing him in the mirror, fiddling around and trying to do something. That was the next step in enjoying who the character was and could be.”

And the prosthetic penis wasn’t the only gift Eggers gave his cast: “Nosferatu” star Lily-Rose Depp told IndieWire that Eggers gave her the short story “Péhor” by French author Remy de Gourmont to prepare her for acting Ellen Hutter, a woman who summons Skårsgard’s Count Orlok as her companion.

“Péhor” is part of “Histoires magiques,” a collection of short stories centered on a young girl named Douceline who sensually devotes herself to religious figures. Douceline becomes sexually involved with the undead creature Péhor, who awakens her to the pleasures of sin, mirroring Eggers’ “Nosferatu” storyline.

“Rob is known to be incredibly well researched and sent me lots of references and films that inspired him for the role. “He also gave me this text to read called Péhor (by Remy de Gourmont), which is a kind of story about a young religious girl who has a sexually awakening love story with a demon,” Depp said. “That was of course very relevant for me. I used it like a Bible, so to speak, and read it over and over again while filming.”
