No. 13 Volleyball falls to No. 6 Creighton in the NCAA regional semifinals

STATE COLLEGE, Penn. – No. 13 Texas Volleyball falls to No. 6 Creighton, 26-24, 19-25, 21-25, 20-25, in the NCAA Volleyball State College regional semifinals at Rec Hall on Friday.

The Longhorns finished the season with an overall record of 20-7 and failed to advance beyond the Sweet 16 for just the second time in the last 19 seasons.

Madisen Skinner finished her incredible career, which included three national championships, with a team-high 23 kills.

Marianna Singletary had 11 kills in the match while Ayden Ames Added eight kills in 13 swings.

The Longhorns had to capitalize on an epic rally to win the opening set. They were behind early and fought off two set points before prevailing 26:24. Ames and Singletary each had five kills on seven shots in the opening set to lead Texas offensively.

Creighton led from start to finish in the second set and won it 25-19, ending the match at one set a game. The Longhorns had just a .171 batting average in the set, while the Bluejays hit .361.

Texas again started slowly in the third set, but fought back to take a 14-13 lead. However, Creighton responded with a late 5-0 run to take the set 25-21. The Blue Jays were efficient again with a .344 batting average in the third set.

Creighton closed out the game with a 25-20 win in the fourth set, holding the Longhorns to a .024 hitting percentage.
