Blake Shelton recalls ‘humiliating’ accidental FaceTime with Vince Gill

“One day he accidentally called Vince on my phone. He accidentally FaceTimed him,” Blake Shelton remembers. “He thought he was going to call his nanny, Vince, and he called Vince Gill,” he explained. “I remember walking through the house and hearing Vince Gill’s voice kind of laughing. And I looked and saw Zuma throwing the phone away. He was like, ‘I don’t know.’ There was a guy who answered the phone for Vince.’ I looked and he had called Vince Gill, who was in Amsterdam with the Eagles,” Shelton recalled.

Shelton texted his compatriot to explain what happened. Gill called him back and said, “Man, I laughed. I thought you were drunk or something,” Shelton recalled, laughing at the mishap.

However, now Zuma Gill intentionally wants to FaceTime. “Years later, Zuma is the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world. He asks, “Can we FaceTime him again?” and I say, “No. Actually never again. That was humbling for me,” Shelton said.

Shelton on being a stepfather

When Blake Shelton married Gwen Stefani, he became a husband and stepfather. When they tied the knot, he had three sons – Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. Today Kingston is 18, Zuma is 16 and Apollo is 10.

He spoke to his eldest stepson before his birthday Entertainment tonight about how his stepsons grew up over the last decade. “If I could repeat the last ten years, that would be perfect,” he said. “We have an 18-year-old next month and it’s unbelievable that this has already happened. In a few years we will have another 18-year-old,” he added. “We still have Apollo, so we still have almost 10 years before we can kick him out, so it should be a lot of fun,” he added jokingly.
