Hey, what happened to the old saying that every NFL road win is a good thing?

Now, whoever wrote that didn’t suffer through numerous Panthers games in 2024 like Joe did, including today.

It’s a bad Panthers team that has already traded away several good players to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. And the Panthers’ idiocy was made even more evident today by their head coach’s conservative play (thanks, Dave!) and a brutal kicking game.

Still, Joe hears it from fans who are upset because Joe isn’t hitting the Dale Mabry Highway after a thrilling overtime win for the Bucs, a breakout game from the Bucs’ special young running back and a legendary rushing day for the Bucs.

OK. Joe gets it. A win is a win and it feels 100 times better than a loss. But there were serious problems on the field. Heck, even Baker Mayfield himself sounded upset during his postgame interview on FOX.

“Not pretty at all,” Mayfield said of the win, citing many offensive penalties and his own poor plays.

It’s okay to win ugly. But it’s December and the season is – and was – at stake.

The Bucs need to play better. Joe knows it. The Bucs know it. And surely Todd Bowles and the thin ice beneath him know this.
