No. 5 Notre Dame plays rival USC in Southern California with a playoff spot — and potentially a first-round playoff game at home — on the line.
The Fighting Irish took the lead after stopping a promising Trojans push and put together an efficient march of their own – one that ended with running back Jeremiyah Love fighting for extra yards and a touchdown.
Love had several big, hard runs on the drive and quarterback Riley Leonard was also effective with his legs and some quick, easy passes.
Love’s 1-yard touchdown run, which capped a 13-play, 72-yard drive that lasted 7:13, was a record-setting score. He has now thrown a rushing touchdown in 12 straight games – a Notre Dame record.
Wayne Bullock held the previous mark with 11.
