Now another video has emerged in which Pete Hegseth completely destroys Trump

Pete Hegseth, the nominee for defense secretary, called Donald Trump “a tough guy” who is “all bluster, very little substance” in a 2016 clip shared by CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski on Tuesday. (Watch the video below.)

Although the former “Fox & Friends” host wasn’t the only potential Trump Cabinet member who has disparaged the president-elect in the past, the video resurfaced at a sensitive time. Trump is reportedly already considering replacing Hegseth with another candidate as allegations of misconduct mount against him. He was accused of sexual assault and agreed to a settlement with his accuser, but denied the allegations. The National Guard veteran was also reportedly forced to resign from two veterans groups over financial and sexual impropriety and repeatedly showed up to work at Fox News smelling of alcohol.

The clips Kaczynski dug up won’t help the cause.

“This is typical Trump, all bluster, very little substance,” Hegseth said on Fox News in March 2016. “He speaks a harsh word. But when it comes down to it, he’s a tough guy. I hate to say it, but this is a guy who said John McCain is not a war hero. Nevertheless, he requested his own five military deferments.”

In footage from 2015, also shown on CNN on Tuesday, Hegseth said: “You don’t want a senior presidential candidate to get all of his military advice from watching ‘Meet the Press.'” There’s a lot more nuance. There is much more detail. … Foreign policy and national security are not about TV shows.”

CNN said a spokesman for the Trump-Vance transition team issued a statement defending Hegseth’s previous comments as a Fox News host.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Trump opponent in the primaries who has spoken ill of the president-elect, is said to be a front-runner to potentially replace Hegseth.
