ForbesNYT “Connections” tips and answers for Thursday, December 19th

Hey people! Welcome to the end of the week and perhaps (hopefully!) the end of the work or school year for you! I will keep the introduction short, also because I am very pleased to share today’s recommendation with you.

Before we begin, I created a discussion group for Connections and this column on Discord. You can chat with me and other people about any game (and other topics). I’m always interested in finding out how other people approach the game, so join in! It’s fun.

It’s also the best way to give me feedback on the column, especially on the rare (!) occasions when I mess something up.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Friday, December 20th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be items you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access the publications with the All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

With a perfect game I’m back on the winning road. This is what happened to me:

🟦🟦🟦🟦

🟩🟩🟩🟩

🟪🟪🟪🟪

🟨🟨🟨🟨

My first thought was that there was a group of large industries, which led me to the blues. Right phrase, wrong way of thinking (unfortunately, I’m trying really hard to put all thoughts of Martin Shkreli, the ultimate pharma bro, out of my head now).

Next up were the greens. Since I have a degree in English, it would have been pretty embarrassing if I messed it up.

Afterwards, the yellow tones stuck out to me like a sore thumb, also because I’m on half-vacation and have already had several cocktails this week. This could have come from my clues today.

What remained were the purple tones. It didn’t click for me, but I have to keep in mind that I should be a little more patient and say all the words out loud before I start solving something. Those words would have clicked. Not to mention, MOWN and WHALE looked very out of place from the jump. They refer to groaning (GROWN), groaning (MOAN), whining (WHALE) and whining (WHINE).

That’s all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog tomorrow for hints and the walkthrough for Saturday’s game if you need it.

PS: Let’s come to another film recommendation today. I recently stopped playing Turbo kid, This is a sequel to the cult film of the same name, but in game form.

The film (like the game) is an absolute delight. It’s one of my favorite films of the last 15 years. It’s a funny, sweet, utterly charming homage to ’80s Saturday morning cartoons that’s just damn gory. The soundtrack is also absolutely incredible. I still listen to it every now and then.

Secure, Turbo kid It’s a little rough around the edges and some plot lines don’t really make sense, but I couldn’t care less. I really hope there are some 10th anniversary screenings next year because I’ve never seen it on the big screen.

The full trailer gives a little too much away, so I’m just embedding the teaser below (which still contains a bit of blood – be warned!). If you’re in the mood for over-the-top violence and blood splatters, please give in Turbo kid a shot. I can’t recommend it enough. It is currently available on Prime Video in the US and Canada:

I wish you a wonderful day! Call someone you love!
