ForbesNYT “Connections” tips and answers for Saturday, December 7th

Hello! I hope you have a great weekend.

I admit, sometimes I find myself keeping this section very short, especially when I’m feeling lazy. But some of you have told me that you came to the column just to read this part, which always inspires me to write something. It makes me feel like we have a nice little community here, you know?

Speaking of which, if you don’t know, I recently started a small group on Discord where a few of us chat about each day’s game. I’ve really liked this so far. It was nice to get to know these people a little and see how they put each game together. Anyway, sometime in January I’ll open the doors and start sharing the link in the column every day so that anyone who wants to join us can do just that.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Sunday, December 8th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be, for example, elements that you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access the publications with the All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

It’s always nice to get a perfect game. That’s 11 wins in a row for me. This is what happened to me:

My first thought was that SEOUL had to go with the purple group since there was obviously some puns going on. Nothing else really made sense as a city name except SANDWICH, which is associated with naming the very best way to eat something.

SOCK unlocked the yellows for me, so I balanced them. Since SLUG wasn’t in the picture, I grouped the remaining animal names together and that was enough for the blues – even if I didn’t make the specific connection.

Sometimes it helps to sound out words in the grid, especially since I was so sure SEOUL was in there as a soundalike. But uh, I didn’t do that. Although the purple group would have made it clearer.

I saw five options for what I thought were the greens. WRAP didn’t quite fit and seemed the most likely candidate for a homophone, so I excluded that from the greens. However, since I like to get the purples as early as possible, I submitted these first.

For clarity, the purple tones refer to indie, metal, soul and rap.

That’s all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the walkthrough for Monday’s game if you need them.

PS: Given my reference to the yellow tones and the fact that We Are Scientists are an indie band, I have to choose this song. I really love their first album, With love and misery, and that might be my favorite song on it. It’s so damn catchy!

I wish you a wonderful day! Call someone you love!
