Hello Strands fans. The clever theme of today’s puzzle made me think I was hopelessly out of my depth. Now that I’m middle-aged, “lit” in its current colloquial sense is something I’m only vaguely familiar with – and something I won’t be correcting any time soon.

Luckily it wasn’t about that, nor was it about the lighting, which was my second thought. It wasn’t until I used a clue to uncover CRIME that I realized it was an acronym for “literature”… and I was back on solid ground.

To the right of that I found FANTASY, which confirmed that they were book genres, and sure enough I then spotted the spangram of FICTIONGENRE rotated in the middle of the grid.

I then spotted ROMANCE in the top left corner before returning to the bottom of the board to complete it with HISTORICAL. That left WESTERN in the top right corner to complete the puzzle.
