Official – Cagliari vs Inter Milan starting lineups

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to use Stefan de Vrij in midfield against Cagliari. The duel on Matchday 18 of Serie A begins tonight at 6:00 p.m. CET.

Inter will face Cagliari away from home in Sardinia in the final Serie A game of 2024.

And it promises to be a big game on both sides of the table.

First of all, there is enormous pressure for the Nerazzurri to get three points in a tough title fight against Atalanta and Napoli, among others.

Meanwhile, Cagliari are currently in the relegation zone of Serie A, so any result they can get in front of their home fans tonight would be valuable.

Stefan De Vrij returns to Inter’s starting eleven against Cagliari

Firstly, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi named Yann Sommer in goal.

Therefore, the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper continues his streak of starting every Serie A game for Inter this season.

In defence, meanwhile, Inzaghi has made the only change from the team that beat Como last Monday.

Stefan de Vrij is fully fit again. Therefore, the Dutchman moves back into the center of the Nerazzurri back three.

Then it’s Yann Bisseck and Alessandro Bastoni who start on either side of de Vrij. That’s why Carlos Augusto drops to the bench.

In midfield, the trio Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella retain their places.

Inzaghi once again chose Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries on the wings.

Last in attack Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram led the line for Inter from the first minute.

Meanwhile, as far as injuries go, Inter are missing out on Matteo Darmian, as well as further long-term absences from Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi.
