Ohio State falls, Texas rises

College football’s Rivalry Week brought a lot of upsets and wild finishes, leading to some notable changes in the USA LBM Coaches Poll.

Oregon remains the unanimous No. 1 team. The Ducks defeated border rival Washington and enter the Big Ten title game with a clean slate. Texas is now the unanimous No. 2 pick, finishing second to the Ducks in all 53 ballots after the Longhorns won at Texas A&M and Ohio State lost to Michigan. The Buckeyes fell six spots to No. 8 after their fourth straight loss to their rival kept them from the Big Ten title game.

Penn State, which inherits a spot over Oregon in the Big Ten final, moves up to No. 3. Notre Dame climbs to fourth place, while Georgia, facing a rematch with Texas, rounds out the top five. Next up are No. 6 Tennessee and No. 7 SMU. Indiana is ninth and Boise State moves into the top 10.
