Oilers prevail in defensive showdown against Golden Knights

There’s plenty of NHL action on Saturday with many top matchups like an Original Six battle between the Leafs and Red Wings or a more recent rivalry between the Oilers and Golden Knights. It should be a great game and we want to improve on some of our recent streaks, such as our 30-20 record in total games and team subgames this season.

Bet: Golden Knights Oilers under 6.5 goals (-135), Oilers ML (-150)

The Oilers have been brutal against the spread this season with an 11-18 record. Many people don’t believe they can hold their own against the Pacific’s top team, the Vegas Golden Knights, as they get 76 percent of public bets on the puck line. The Sin City Hockey Club has been lethal to the Oilers with an 18-11 record reversed this season and has drawn four straight games.

Both teams couldn’t be hotter as they each posted four straight wins, giving the only real advantage to the Oilers, who host and have won three of their last five home games against Vegas.

These two have seen their history of high-scoring shootouts take a downturn toward more defensive showdowns, with the total falling below seven goals in seven of their last ten meetings.

Edmonton and Vegas have elite offenses in the top 14, but both have even better back ends and rank eighth and ninth in goals against average, respectively.
