Two hot teams face off at Rogers Place tonight as the Edmonton Oilers host the St. Louis Blues. Edmonton has a record of 4-1-0 in their last five games while St. Louis has a record of 4-0-1 over the same period.

Leon Draisaitl has scored goals for fun, with 19 goals this season, including 15 at even strength, and I hope he lights the lamp again tonight.

I’ll cover my Draisaitl bet and more in my Blues vs. Oilers NHL picks and predictions for Saturday, December 7th.

My Oilers analysis
The Edmonton Oilers have been sluggish early this season, but have turned things around over the past month and are 8-3-1 in their last 12 games. It’s no coincidence that Leon Draisaitl leads all players with 10 goals in that span, and I trust he will light the lamp again tonight against the St. Louis Blues.

Draisaitl scored in eight of 12 games, including a multi-goal performance against the Blue Jackets in the Oilers’ 6-3 win on Thursday. The Oilers sharpshooter has also scored in three straight home games and in four of his last five games at Rogers Place.

Draisaitl was primarily the center of the second line, most recently flanked by Kasperi Kapanen and Vasily Podkolzin. With Connor McDavid’s top line receiving most of the defensive attention from opposing teams, Draisaitl has been able to thrive at even strength.

His 19 goals this season puts him tied for the lead with Sam Reinhart, but Draisaitl’s 15 tied goals are two more than any other skater.

The Blues were also among the NHL’s worst defensive teams this season, allowing 59 goals and conceding 59 goals, which ranked them seventh-worst.

Over 5.5

The Oilers entered the game as heavy favorites (-249) on home ice, and that’s in part because their offense has been firing on all cylinders over the last month. Edmonton’s 3.75 goals per game since Nov. 9 ranks third in the NHL, while the club’s 0.708 points percentage over that span ranks fourth.

With 25 points, McDavid leads all players since that date, while Draisaitl (18) is in third place. The dynamic duo has helped the Oilers win the over in five of their last seven games, averaging exactly four goals per game.
