Oregon State looks to make a piece of history Wednesday night when the Beavers play Nebraska in the Diamond Head Classic championship game in Honolulu.

The tipping time listed is 5:30 p.m. However, as this is the fourth game of the day, the game is not expected to start until after 6:00 p.m. Oregon State (10-2) is trying to win an eight-team regular-season tournament for the first time since 1989, when the Beavers won the Far West Classic.

7:54 1H: Oregon State with its fifth three-pointer of the game, this one from Sy. OSU 22-18. Another media timeout. Beavers 5 of 8 from three-point range. Four different beavers having threesomes.

9:39 1H: Now it’s Lake from three, and Oregon State has its largest lead of the game at 17-13.

10:41 1H: Lelevicius hit his second three-pointer of the game to give Oregon State a 14-13 lead.

11:49 1H: Media timeout. Nebraska 13-11. The Beavers hadn’t scored in more than two minutes. Williams and Gary, who combined for all 13 Husker points, went to the bench.

12:10 1H: Nebraska’s defense is giving OSU a lot of trouble. Beavers are 3 of 12 from the floor. Still 13-11 Nebraska.

13:09 1H: Gary and Williams do all the scoring for Nebraska. Gary hits a 3 and the Huskers are 13-11.

14:05 1H: Rataj makes two free throws after being fouled on the way to the basket. OSU 11-8

15:14 1H: Lelevicius and Minor hit three-pointers and the Beavers led 8-7. Minor also gets a free throw after the timeout. Early numbers: Oregon State is 3-9 and Nebraska is 2-4.

17:31 1H: Minor hits a free throw line jumper and secures OSU’s first points. Gary makes two free throws and the score is 5-2 for Nebraska.

18:08 1H: Brice Williams hits a three-pointer and Nebraska leads 3-0.

Shaky start on both offensive ends. Scoreless for 90 seconds as each team had missed shots and one turnover.

Hawaii-Oakland ended in overtime. Oregon State-Nebraska kicks off the Diamond Head Classic championship at 6:45 p.m.

A few points worth mentioning if OSU wins:

  • The Beavers would be 11-2 for the first time since the 1989-90 season.
  • This would be OSU’s first ever win on Christmas.

Obviously the game doesn’t start at 5:30 p.m. At 5:41 p.m. there are approximately 8 minutes left in the Hawaii-Oakland game. With a break of around 25 minutes, we expect a start at 6:30 p.m.
